Administrators of the Biosite online portal can view the status that an operative's right to work checks is in.
Portal administrators will require the View and upload right to work permission to access the right to work checks section of an operative profile.
Organisation administrators will automatically be granted this permission.
Right to work checks states
There are a number of different states that a right to work check for an operative can be in the Biosite online portal:
- No PPAC code
- Pending
- Rejected
- Expired
- Verified online
- Verified in-person
- Exempt
Each of these states will be described below
No PPAC code
Operatives without a PPAC code recorded on their profile will result in the following information being displayed to the administrator.
The operative will need to complete the steps in Right to Work - Operative.
If successful right to work checks are required to complete the online induction, an operative in this state will not be able to complete the online induction.
Pending
If an operative has entered their PPAC code but PPAC has not yet completed the right to work checks administrators will be shown information reflecting this.
When in this state, the Biosite online portal waits for PPAC to complete the right to work check process and an automatic notification will sent to the Biosite online portal to update the state with the outcome of the check.
If successful right to work checks are required to complete the online induction, an operative in this state will not be able to complete the online induction.
Rejected
Operatives who have not had a successful right to work check will be required to liaise with PPAC for the steps necessary to successfully complete a right to work check, if possible.
The Biosite online portal displays that that further checks are necessary.
When an operative is in this state on the Biosite online portal it does not always mean that the operative does not have the right to work in the UK. This state can arise when PPAC has been unable to successfully confirm a right to work in the UK with the supplied documentation and a submission of additional documentation to PPAC may enable them to perform a successful check.
If successful right to work checks are required to complete the online induction, an operative in this state will not be able to complete the online induction.
Expired
Operatives may have time-limited permission to work in the UK. When that time period has been reached the right to work check will be considered as expired.
Operatives will need to resubmit documentation to PPAC for a new right to work check to be performed.
If successful right to work checks are required to complete the online induction, an operative in this state will not be able to complete the online induction.
Verified online
When an operative successfully passes the digital right to work check through PPAC they will be recorded in the verified online state. This is equivalent the "Go to site" state within PPAC.
Operatives with time-limited permission to work in the UK may have the expiry date of the right to work check present.
If successful right to work checks are required to complete the online induction, an operative in this state will be able to complete the online induction.
Verified in-person
Operatives who have had their right to work verified in-person and recorded in PPAC will display the successful result of having a right to work in the UK.
Operatives with time-limited permission to work in the UK may have the expiry date of the right to work check present.
If successful right to work checks are required to complete the online induction, an operative in this state will be able to complete the online induction.
Exempt
Operatives working for an organisation that is not required to complete right to work checks will display this to the administrator.
Organisations can be made exempt from requiring right to work checks by following this guide: Right to Work - Exempt Organisations
If successful right to work checks are required to complete the online induction, an operative in this state will be able to complete the online induction.
