This briefing note provides an update on CSCS withdrawal of the Go Smart online card checker, which impacts the automatic online verification of operative cards on the Biosite portal. You will need to take action if you would like to continue to utilise automatic verification of CSCS cards on the Biosite portal – please read below.
Update:
You may be aware that CSCS has withdrawn the Go Smart online card checker as of 31st March 2024. This has been replaced by a new service called CSCS Smart Check.
As an IT partner of CSCS, Biosite is migrating to Smart Check via an API connection between CSCS and our software. This will enable continued automatic verification of operative CSCS cards on the Biosite portal.
Implications:
Access to the current Go Smart card checker was withdrawn on 31st March 2024. Now this date has passed, you will no longer be able to validate operative CSCS cards automatically using this feature without Smart Check integration. You will only be able to submit manual verifications on the Biosite portal. Follow this Users - manually verifying qualifications (permissions included) link for a guide on how to manually verify qualifications. CITB Levy payers can continue to use the automatic CITB card checker on the Biosite portal.
To utilise the new Smart Check feature and continue to automatically verify CSCS cards on the Biosite portal, you need to take action, which has been mandated by CSCS.
CSCS requires a tri-partite licence agreement to be established between each customer organisation (‘Service User’), Biosite (‘IT Partner’) and CSCS (‘Licensor’). According to CSCS, this is to ensure each ‘API Key’, or integration is being used as agreed and for its intended purposes. CSCS has also mandated that this licence agreement is subject to an initial charge from CSCS for each Service User of £1,500, which is subject to annual renewal. Biosite will facilitate the billing and licence process for you.
Some of the enhanced benefits of the Biosite - SmartCheck integration include:
- Support for 43 total schemes, including the 13 already supported by Go Smart
- Periodic updating by Biosite of CSCS cards uploaded to the Biosite portal
- Download of the operative’s photo from the card, to use it as their operative profile image on the Biosite portal, if one is not already present
- Automatic download of all qualifications from the back of the card, where supported.
Next steps:
Please confirm as soon as possible if you would like your Biosite portal to be integrated with CSCS Smart Check to facilitate automatic verification of operative CSCS cards on the Biosite portal. We will then be able to co-ordinate the completion of the tri-partite licence agreement and API integration between CSCS and your Biosite portal for you, along with the billing process. Please contact sales-admin@biositesystems.com if you would like this feature to be set up.
