This article will be updated as issues with CSCS card validation are identified and resolved.
Update - 23/10/2024
Issue: CSCS withdrew its Go Smart Checker on 31st March, replacing it with the new Smart Check service. This notice is to track outstanding issues with this new service. Biosite is in constant dialogue with CSCS on these matters.
To limit the impact of these issues, Biosite has developed a feature to allow cards that cannot be verified to still be saved on operatives’ profiles as unverified. This was released in Biosite 8.183.1 and was available on all customer portals on 10/04/24. See Allow adding of unverifiable card & qualifications.
Issues:
- On-site scanning of CSCS cards is also impacted, CSCS was not aware that our usage of this feature this would be impacted by the GoSmart withdrawal. CSCS has been unable to find a resolution for the current system. To cover this loss of functionality, CSCS is working with Biosite on a new system for on-site scanning. Adding CSCS cards on site
- The validation of cards managed by NOCN (CPCS & CISRS) is partially effected. Any card issued prior to NOCN's take over of CPCS & CISRS in December 2019 can not be verified using CSCS Smart Check. See Verifying CPCS & CISRS cards
Allow adding of unverifiable card & qualifications
To mitigate the impact of these issues, Biosite has added a configuration option to the Biosite portal which allows unverifiable cards to still be added to operative profiles. Cards added in this way will be marked as unverified, a user with "Manage qualification verification" permission can then manually verify this card on the operative's profile both in the portal, and on the site client.
To allow unverifiable cards to be added, go to All tools > Configuration > Induction > Flow tab > Settings cog on operative details entry row > Turn off "Block unverifiable cards"
Verifying CPCS & CISRS cards
CPCS & CISRS cards issued during, or prior to, 2019 can not be verified on CSCS Smart Check using the membership number printed on the card. This is due to NOCN issuing new membership numbers to all CPCS & CISRS card holders when they took ownership of the schemes.
To get your new membership number you can:
- Go to the NOCN card checker
- Enter your card details
- The result page will include your new membership number.
This new membership number can then be used to validate your card on the CSCS Smart Checker, and within Biosite as a result.
Adding CSCS cards on site
Scanning CSCS smart cards on the Biosite enrolment PC no longer works due to a CSCS outage. CSCS is working on a new system to scan physical cards, once available Biosite will integrate the system into the Biosite on-site software. In the meantime, CSCS cards can be added to operative profiles and manually verified following the steps below.
Alternatively, for Smart Check users, you can add cards to the Biosite Portal where they will be automatically verified.
To manually verify cards, users with the "Manage qualification verification" permission can:
- Open the operative's profile
- Go to the "Qualifications" tab
- Add a new qualification or edit an existing one
- Change the "Verified" toggle to yes
- Save/update the qualification
